Raemil: Darkness rising is book one in an epic dark fantasy.

This coming of age story follows a young woman who escapes her controlling father to embark on a dangerous mission to find her missing brother. She naively leaves her sheltered life behind with the only friend she has, a horse named the Black.

Raemil awkwardly navigates new friendships and her first love while facing the horrors of the wastes beyond her father’s realm. She quickly finds herself deemed an outcast due to her unusual appearance and increasingly, she hides her face from strangers.

The world is in the grip of an evil terror and the closer to the Horsham mountains and her brother’s last-known where-abouts she gets, the more atrocities Raemil encounters. Bloody and brutal murders are not uncommon in the small towns and villages. At the foot of the mountains, people whisper of violent creatures of the like no one has ever seen. Dragons thought to have been myth or extinct, own the skies and decimate whole villages as a show of strength in their ruler’s name. Demons roam the wild places where the light does not reach, coaxing victims into their clutches, consuming innocence and sanity as they grow stronger.
